The 2003 Street Print Conference was conducted at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort on the Sunshine Coast. The main emphasis was on the Australian launch of the new StreetPrint Duratherm paving process.
The Duratherm demonstration was organised with the consent of the hotel management. The application consisted of two feature cross walk impressions, at the front foyer to the hotel. We then inserted the Novotel logo in the centre using pre-formed thermo plastics this enhanced and beautified the entrance for visitors.
The Duratherm process involves the heating of the asphalt, after which a flexible template is compacted into the asphalt, then removed leaving an imprinted pattern. Once the imprinting is completed DuraTherm pre-cut grids are laid into the imprinted areas and heated to 80-120°C with the SR60 Infrared heater. We were able to open the road to traffic and pedestrians once the surface of the asphalt and thermoplastics had reached an ambient temperature.
This project provides the latest decorative look with all the advantages of high traffic durability, excellent skid resistance and reflectivity that only inlaid thermoplastic and StreetPrint Duratherm can offer. The other advantage to this product is that the whole project only took 4 hours to complete with minimal manpower and required less traffic control.
The preformed Logo was as simple as laying the Logo onto the asphalt surface and heating it with the SR60 until adhesion was achieved and as you can see the results speak for themselves.
